-Mooch, funny you should say that. I was actually going for a Dan Clowes/ Charles Burns sort of line. And then I was trying to approach it like a high focus thing (as if I knew how), but any comparision to James Jean is a good thing, so thank you! I can see what you were talking about.
-German, your work is teriffic and I'll have to check back soon to see what new stuff you put up on your blog. I'm happy you like my stuff too!
-Carly, I'm glad you're diggin' these Sheena drawings. I'll have some more soon!!
Oh yeah, the Clowes influence is the first thing that hits, but I could tell by the way you were handling the line, that you were going for a "high focus" feel to it. James Jean studied "High Focus" at SVA, which is why he has that very suttle controlled linework in his illustrations. If you're interested you should take a "High Focus" class at SVA. I think you'd enjoy it!
You know, Phil leant me his High Focus book back in 2003. After holding onto it for a year or two, I decided I should just buy my own copy. I still haven't read much of it... I've been meaning to take the class too.
The "High Focus" book is great, but unless you've taken a course, it's difficult to truly understand what paces you're put through during the course. If you want, we should look into taking a course at SVA. I could use the refresher! You never really forget, but you can get rusty:)
Wow I am really glad I stumbled upon your blog while randomly flying through various links on other artists sites! These last posts are great and the venture ones...well there's no denying they make me all giddy.
There's no doubt I have to link you so I can check back often as well as allow others the chance to find their way here! Keep up the inspiring stuff!

Nice sketch CG! I see alot of James Jean in Sheena's face, especially her mouth! He's such an inspiration, one of my favorites too:)
