{ ¡Viva los Muertos! }

Midway thru designing season two, we'd gotten our cintiq screens and had slowly, episode by episode, begun to make our rough designs more and more detailed. Working straight into photoshop had given us the advantage to work more quickly and in full color- deadlines permitting. Eventually, our rough designs were vivid, full-color reflections of our imagination. I think we started to hit our stride around "Escape to The House of Mummies". The designs below are from ¡Viva los Muertos!.

Thanks so much for these! I'm amazed at the subtlety of these parody characters. I love the Deadman/Ghost Rider?/Dormammu character there (Dormammu? Is that right?).

And Jefferson Twilight, of course. Fantastic work, and I really appreciate your being so good about posting it all too. Thanks.

Hey guys,

Thanks so much for the comments!

- Mike, these were drawn and colored in photoshop using a 21" cintiq monitor. The final inked designs were also drawn using the cintiq and photoshop. Yay, technology!

- Paublo, I'm honered. It's certainly fine with me if you link my blog. I will do the same with yours.

- Tom, I googled Dormammu. And you're right, there is a resemblance. Parody credit goes out to Jackson Publik, as it was his direction I followed. You ought to check out his blog if you have a chance. He's under my friends list as, well... Jackson Publik.

Sonny's design is the by far the coolest one-time appearance in the whole show. I love Killinger too.

PS I just read Matthew Pearl's "Poe Shadow" and all I could think of the whole time was your Poe design, hahahahaha

Thanks again everyone! Your comments are much appriciated. I think I have one more Venture post to go then that's it... at least until season three (fingers crossed).

- Erin, I posted that Lincoln ghost just for you; I'm glad you dug him. Oh, and you're welcome : )

-Carly & Lauren, I'm glad you two liked Sonny so much. I'm pretty happy with him too, which for me is uncommon given the amount of time that's passed since I drew him.
